All-on-4 Dental Implants with Computer Guided Surgery and Digital Smile Design

Another All-on-4 dental implant case with computer guided surgery stent from DSD Lab Madrid, Spain and prosthesis by the OMNI Lab , Perth, Australia. The patient was scanned in our in-house CBCT scanner while he was still having teeth which were going to fail .

With that information given from the discom and STL files the DSD lab constructed the the virtual implants surgery and other components are located within the prosthesis and facial guided as planned on my side .

This case was set up for the use of Nobel Biocare Nobel Active implants which provide maximum stability due to the tapered body design, and crestal bone preservation due to the horizontal “platform shift” of the restorative table. The proprietary NobelBiocare surgical kit was used long with the manufacturer’s guided surgery kit .

The surgery typically involves minimal discomfort for the patient and can be completed in significantly less time than conventional implant surgery. These cases are cost-effective, durable, and aesthetic, which vastly improves the quality of our patients’ lives.

Dental Implant or a Three-Unit Bridge?

Dental Implant Crown or a Three-Unit Bridge?

When you have a single missing tooth there are three options to replace it, either a single dental implant or a three unit bridge or a denture .

In this case , this patient had two three unit dental bridges done 17 years ago in the lower jaw. He is about to have a full mouth rehabilitation to restore his airway by prosthodontics due to his sleep apnea . We  are doing this by altering his occlusal vertical and sagital dimensions.

Airway prosthodontics is not restricted to a removable  appliance or just relying on CPAP machine only.

Patient is also concerned about his oral hygiene around his bridges. He finds it difficult to clean his existing 3 unit bridges  and  furthermore they are due to be replaced  —- drkamsiah

The Use of Digital Smile Design in everyday Orthodontics

The Use of Digital Smile Design in everyday  Orthodontics

As technology continues to evolve we now have the advantage of digital smile design workflows in our everyday dentistry. Through photography, video and impression scanners we can perform similar procedures using digital smile design protocols. We have been exposed to many great interdisciplinary examples of digital smile design cases that involve full mouth restorative. However, we can use these protocols to also execute traditional orthodontics as well.
The following is a clinical case of an orthodontic procedure that many general practitioners might perform on a regular basis. It was planned using a Digital Smile Design (DSD) protocol to educate patient on how the movement going to be during traditional orthodontics  .

DSD protocol may be used for other cosmetic dental case which we have discussed extensively in our website , blog, FB , Instagram and twitter cases involving restorative dentistry, periodontics, implantology , aligners, orthognathic cases . By using the digital workflows , clinical cases are predictable and easier to explain to our patients and  implement with the help of an experienced lab in Digital Smile Design Technology .
